Do used EVs qualify for incentives in Colorado?
Yes, through Vehicle Exchange Colorado (VXC): $6,000 toward a used EV or plug-in hybrid priced at $50,000 or less, for income-qualified buyers who trade in a qualifying older or high-emitting vehicle. Used EVs don't get the Colorado EV tax credit, and the federal used EV credit ended Sept. 30, 2025.
How much range does an EV lose in a Colorado winter?
On average, EVs keep about 78% of their range at 32°F and 70% at 20°F, according to Recurrent's study of more than 30,000 cars. A heat pump and preheating the cabin while plugged in both help.
How much does it cost to charge an EV at home in Colorado?
At Colorado's 2024 average residential rate of 14.92 cents per kWh, an EV using 30 kWh per 100 miles costs about $4.50 per 100 miles to charge at home. A gas vehicle averaging 30 mpg at $4.155 a gallon costs about $13.85 for the same distance.
Is a used EV battery still under warranty?
Often, yes. Most EV makers cover the high-voltage battery for at least 8 years or 100,000 miles, and most of our used EVs are 2023 and 2024 models. Coverage depends on the brand and the original in-service date, so ask us about a specific vehicle.
Where can I charge on the road in Colorado?
Colorado has more than 1,680 DC fast-charging ports, according to the Colorado Energy Office, plus thousands of Level 2 ports.
Can I trade in my gas car for a used EV?
Yes. We take trade-ins of any make at all four stores. To use a trade-in for VXC, it must be 12 or more model years old or have failed a Colorado emissions test, among other rules.
Do you service EVs?
Yes. Emich Volkswagen, Emich VW of Boulder, Emich Kia and Emich Chevrolet have factory-authorized service departments for the EVs their brands sell.
